Who are we ?

Cub Scout Pack 118 is part of the Leanpe Trail District, Northern NJ Council, Boy Scouts of America. The unit is committed to imparting: self-reliance, leadership, outdoor skills and fun all in a Jewish setting. Cub Scouting is for boys who are in first grade through fifth grade. For older boys, see Boy Scouts below.

Jewish Observance and Charter Partner Rules

The pack observes the laws of kashrut (we only eat kosher food) and is Shabbat observant in all its activities. When participating in all activities, we always cover our head. Details are covered in our Charter Partner Rules.

Joining Cub Scouts

You can join Cub Scouts at any time during the year. You can check our calendar and join us at a meeting or give one of our leaders a call (see contact info below).

Meetings

All of our Cub Scouts meet once a month (Pack Meeting). Take a look at our calendar to see when our next meeting is. Individual age groups (Dens) meet at their member's convenience between pack meetings.

Dens

Cub Scouts are broken up into age groups called Dens. Tiger Cubs are in first grade, Wolf Cubs in second grade and Bear Cubs in third grade. Webelos Scouts I are in fourth grade and Webelos Scouts II are in fifth grade.

Activities

Cub Scouts are a chance for you to share quality time with your son. Meeting activites include making things, the extremely popular Sports Night, visits from community representatives, bike safety awareness and lots of other fun stuff. Outside of meetings we hike, camp and visit places. Our Family and Friends Ski Trip is always popular. Check out some pictures of our activities.

Summer Camp

In the summer, Webelos II Scouts may attend one week of summer camp along with the Boy Scouts from Troop 118. All the food is strictly kosher and the camp program is Sabbath observant. We hold daily morning and Shabbat services. All of this is at a first-class Scout camp. Boys get to tent right along with our Boy Scouts.

Other Activities

This Memorial Day weekend we will join our partner, Boy Scout Troop 118 up at Camp Glen Gray for a Cub Scout / Boy Scout Family Camp Event. We will spend the weekend camping, hiking, boating, having fun and making new friends. We also march with other Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in the Salute to Israel Parade held in New York City every year.

Boy Scouts

For older boys who are in the sixth grade through age 18, Boy Scouting continues the fun also in a Jewish setting. For information on our Boy Scout troop, please contact Rabbi Lisa Vernon. . Troop 118 Web Site
