Every Cub Scout pack has a charter partner, the organization that
sponsors the pack. The Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest is
the chartering organization for Cub Scout
Pack 118, West Orange, NJ, in the Lenape Trails District of
the Northern New Jersey Council, Boy Scouts of America.
The Federation has the following expectations
of all Cub Scouts and Adults:
- All Pack, Den and individual Scouting activities will be
conducted in compliance with acceptable Shabbat activities as
defined by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. This includes participation and travel to
and from all Scouting activities.
- All Pack, Den and individual Scouting activities will be
conducted in compliance with acceptable Kashrut standards as
defined by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. This includes food purchased or consumed
while traveling to activities and during the activities.
- All male participants, and any female participants who
would normally wear a head covering, must wear either a hat
or kipah whenever involved in Scouting activities.
- It is to be understood that any person wearing a Cub Scout
uniform with the Pack number, 118, is a defacto representative
of the unit and is thereby expected to behave in a
manner consistent with the operating principles expressed here.
